Liberty Double Eagles
1870-S $20 AU53 NGC. This West Coast issue saw widespread circulation during the latter part of the 19th century. The finest collectible examples survive in AU condition, and Mint State pieces are very scarce. The stars, curls, and tailfeathers show considerable merging, but the wings are crisply detailed. Reddish-gold with scattered abrasions throughout.
