1876 $1 Indian Octagonal 1 Dollar, BG-1116, High R.6, MS61 NGC. The Indian Head California fractional gold dollars are quite rare and in great demand among specialists. The High R.6 rarity rating indicates that less than 20 examples of BG-1116 survive in all grades. The survivors include this piece, the only NGC MS61, and one finer example at that grading service (5/17). This brilliant yellow example features a bold strike and prooflike surfaces with faint grade-consistent hairlines and marks.
