Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ Sestertius (29mm, 25.52 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck circa AD 134-138. Laureate head right / Aequitas standing left, holding scales and pertica (measuring rod). RIC II 743; Banti 85. Fine, brown surfaces, a few scratches and minor marks.

The basic attributes of Aequitas are scales and the measuring rod, called a pertica. The Roman Imperial propaganda of this reverse type conveys the message that financial issues are being handled responsibly and fairly.
