Early Half Dimes
1797 H10C 15 Stars, V-2, LM-1, R.3, XF40 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Indiana Collection. Of the four 1797 half dime varieties, LM-1 is the most plentiful and ideal as a type coin for the Small Eagle reverse. The obverse is unique among the 1797 five cent pieces with its 15 peripheral stars; LM-2, -3, and -4 show either 13 or 16 obverse stars. This CAC coin is evenly struck but exhibits some typical weakness at the centers. Both sides have pleasing olive-gray patina and lack any distracting faults.
