Seated Dimes
1837 10C No Stars, Large Date, F-101b, R.2, MS65 PCGS. 30th Anniversary Green Label Holder. Struck from worn dies (but not clashed), this middle die stage shows a bold pie-shaped pair of die cracks -- one from the left through the shield, and one from the right through the gown just left of the foot and rock support. The cracks meet at Liberty's left (facing) knee. The reverse die is rotated 23° and the 7 in the date is recut at the base of its upright. Intermittent shades of slate-gray overtones appear near the rims and around the portrait while lustrous gold patina glows from beneath. The reverse is more lightly toned than the obverse, with pale-gold at the borders around the frosted silver center. Population: 29 in 65 (1 in 65+), 9 finer (6/17).
