Proof Seated Dimes
1860 10C Doubled Die Reverse, F-101, R.3, PR65+ PCGS. It is believed unsold proofs from the year were placed into circulation, since not all of the 1,000-piece mintage was sold. This example was obviously well-preserved when minted and throughout its time in collector hands. A glint of clear-gold, pale-champagne toning covers both sides of this high-end Gem dime, the initial year with the obverse legend. Ample mirroring surrounds lightly frosted motifs. Skinny die doubling on DIME is noted. Population: 22 in 65 (3 in 65+), 22 finer (6/17).
