1878 10C Type Two Reverse, F-101, R.3, PR66 NGC. Type II Reverse. Attractive multicolor toning covers the mirrored fields and frosted devices of this Premium Gem dime. The left ribbon end is pointed to confirm the Type II Reverse design. Struck from lightly rusted dies, the 1878 proofs saw 800 pieces struck, yet few survive in Gem or finer conditions. The present coin offers a sharp strike with an eyeful of variegated, vibrant colors befitting its high proof grade. Few examples are finer. Census: 11 in 66 (2 in 66+, 1 in 66★), 4 finer (6/17).
