1723 FARTH Hibernia Farthing, DEI GRATIA, Martin 2.1-BC.1, W-12350, R.5, AU58+ PCGS. This is a scarce variety, according to Sydney Martin in The Hibernia Coinage of William Wood. This example is from an early die state of the obverse, and displays a prominent die crack through NIA and the stop, to the 1 in the date on the reverse. A lovely near-Mint representative, this piece exhibits glossy chestnut-brown surfaces with splashes of maroon and steel patina. Listed on page 46 of the 2018 Guide Book.
