1787 COPPER Vermont Copper, Bust Right, Nova Constellatio Overstrike, RR-12, Bressett 11-K, W-2110, High R.3, AU50 PCGS. Nearly all examples of the 1787 RR-12 Vermont copper are struck over Nova Constellatio coppers. The large, script US is visible on the obverse, limiting the host coin to a 1785 Nova Constellatio as the 1783-dated pieces all had US in small, block letters. A few of the rays, stars, and letters from the host coin are visible on the reverse, and it might be possible to attributed the undertype with a great deal of study. This lovely AU example has virtually perfect chestnut-brown surfaces with typical strike weakness at the centers. An impressive example for the advanced colonial collector. Listed on page 74 of the 2018 Guide Book. Population: 4 in 50, 1 finer (6/17).
