1722 1/2 P Hibernia Pattern Halfpenny, Rocks at Right, Martin 1.1-A.1, W-12650, Low R.7, AU58+ PCGS. Miller 1.1-A.1 is the sole die marriage in the Hibernia series with rocks to the right of Hibernia. Given its rarity and unique design, the Rocks at Right variety is regarded as a pattern for the series, even though most survivors grade VF to XF. Ford VII:19 is the sole confirmed Uncirculated example, but the present piece comes close. Hibernia's knees and the harp statue show minor high-point blending. Traces of mint red linger in protected areas, and the mahogany-brown surfaces are minimally abraded. The king's cheek has a few small spots, and a loupe reveals occasional minor retained laminations, as made. Listed on page 46 of the 2018 Guide Book.
