1787 FUGIO Fugio Cent, UNITED Above, N. 11-A, W-6780, R.6, MS64 Brown PCGS. CAC. In last year's ANA sale, we offered a different MS64 Brown example of this elusive variety and suggested that that piece was tied for finest known. The present piece is graded the same but has a more pleasing look to this cataloger. While there is less orange mint color on the present example, it is free of the unsightly planchet streaks that are visible on the other example. Light clash marks are evident on the glossy medium brown patina that is blended with splashes of original mint red. Several dark toning spots are noted on the reverse. Listed on page 90 of the 2018 Guide Book. Population: 5 in 64 Brown, 0 finer. CAC: 1 in 64, 0 finer (6/17).
