1817 1/2 RL New Spain (Texas) Jola Half Real VF35 PCGS. This remarkable VF35 PCGS specimen is from a different obverse die than the other 1817 half reals we have handled, this one having a three-digit date, 817, and exhibiting all of the other design elements, although with better clarity. Like virtually all Texas Jolas of 1817 or 1818, this piece has dark brown and charcoal surfaces with traces of green verdigris. Still, this is the finest known example of a new coin type
