1793 1C Chain, AMERICA, Periods, S-4, B-5, R.3, VF30 PCGS Secure. Breen Die State I. No die cracks are evident at the lower left obverse on this nearly perfect early die state example. Pleasing chocolate-brown and tan surfaces have no evidence of corrosion or other surface problems, although a small obverse rim nick is noted at 3 o'clock, and others are evident at 3 o'clock, 7:30, and 11 o'clock on the reverse. The strike is slightly uneven, with a heavy obverse border from 11 o'clock to 4 o'clock. LIBERTY is bold, while the date is completely present but weak. The chain is prominently outlined, and all of the reverse lettering is complete and sharp. Our EAC grade Fine 15.
