Large Cents
1794 1C Head of 1793, S-17b, NC-4, B-1b, High R.8, Fair 2 PCGS Secure. CAC. This important "Non-Collectible" rarity has the leaf on the edge pointing up, signifying the Edge of 1794 sub-variety. In the case of Sheldon-17, there are only two known examples with this edge variant, and those pieces grade AG3 and Fair 2. The slightly finer example is part of a long-term collection and will likely not become available at anytime soon, so the collector who seeks a complete variety set of 1794 large cents must pursue the present example. A pleasing olive-brown example with a few minor lamination defects at the lower obverse, this piece clearly exhibits Choice surfaces for the grade. Liberty's profile on the obverse is fully outlined with the tops of the date visible. The lower portion of the wreath shows detail, along with UNIT in the legend. Our EAC grade Fair 2.
