Large Cents
1821 1C N-1, R.1, MS63 Brown PCGS. One of the scarce issues in the middle-date cent series, the 1821 had a recorded mintage of 389,000 coins, and probably less than 1% of those coins survive today, typically in lower grades than the present piece. At first glance, this Select Mint State 1821 N-1 cent has the appearance of a proof. While the stars are flat and a few of the hair strands are weak, the overall appearance is lovely. The surfaces are sea-green, rose, olive, and light brown with traces of faded mint red on the reverse. Subtle cameo contrast is evident between the devices and the fields. Our EAC grade MS60. Population: 8 in 63 Brown, 0 finer (6/17).
