Proof Franklin Half Dollars
1952 50C PR68 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Ex: Blue Ocean. The Mint bumped the proof mintage for the 1952 half dollar to 81,980 coins, up about 50% from the previous year. The 1952 Franklin half is often seen with either a cameo obverse or a cameo reverse, but seldom do both sides display the matched contrast necessary for a formal designation. Registry Set builders will further appreciate the conditional rarity of this PR68 Cameo, one of only five so-graded coins at PCGS and five at CAC. Neither PCGS nor NGC report a finer example (6/17). Mirrorlike fields surround fully frosted devices throughout this amazing Superb Gem. Numerous wispy polish lines appear on the portrait and Liberty Bell.
