Proof Franklin Half Dollars
1950 50C PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC. The Franklin half dollar went into production in 1948, but proof coinage was not commenced until two years later. The inaugural proof, the 1950, is scarce in high grade and rare in any Ultra Cameo grade. It is among the rarest dates in the series with Ultra Cameo surfaces. This Gem Ultra Cameo coin displays full detail and starkly contrasted design elements with no obvious surface imperfections. A couple of tiny, milky flecks in the fields below the L in LIBERTY serve as a pedigree marker. Census: 13 in 65 Ultra Cameo (2 in 65 ★), 5 finer (6/17).
