1888-O $1 Scarface, VAM-1B3, MS64 PCGS. CAC. A Top 100 Variety. This 1888-O Morgan dollar displays a the dramatic diagonal die break across Liberty's face that characterizes the popular VAM-1B3 variety. The VAM-1B3 is a late die state of the VAM-1B variety and commands a considerable premium over the earlier die states where the crack extends only to the dot between E and P, or slightly further into the field. This coin shows the typical softness on the central devices and both sides show light smoky-gray patina with deeper color around the margins.
