1884 $3 MS64 PCGS. CAC. Only 1,000 business-strike three dollar gold pieces were struck in 1884, and it is likely that some of those coins were never distributed. The issue may be the rarest of the series in absolute terms, but some other dates are more elusive in high grade. This delightful Choice specimen exhibits sharply detailed design elements throughout, and the well-preserved orange-gold surfaces show deeply reflective prooflike fields.
