1881-CC $1 MS67 PCGS. CAC. The scarcity of the 1881-CC only becomes apparent at the Superb Gem grade level. About half the 296,000 coins minted were held in storage through the 1970s before being released. This MS67 Carson City dollar is beautifully toned on the obverse in shades of blue, green, violet, and golden-orange, while the reverse is brilliant. Fully struck over the ear, breast, and talons, and nearly impossible to upgrade with only four finer examples at PCGS and a single finer coin at CAC (6/17).
