Commemorative Silver
1893 25C Isabella Quarter PR62 NGC. CAC. The Guide Book and other references note that 103 Isabella quarters proofs were struck, but the Mint did not keep records confirming that proof mintage. The subject is open to debate. PCGS and NGC report a small number of proofs, but the their positions on the matter are constantly evolving. Recently, John Dannreuther indicated he had seen only one coin that he would consider a true proof and research by Kevin Flynn indicates only eight proofs were originally struck. Both figures are fully struck. Light contact marks and hairlines limit the grade. Brilliant centers with violet and cobalt-blue toning at the rims.
