The W mintmark was reserved for proof Gold Eagle coinage in 1999, although this Guide Book variety was struck with West Point dies that lacked their traditional mirror finish. PCGS has seen only 11 pieces finer than this one (6/17). It has a sharp strike and bright yellow-gold luster.
