Bust Half Dollars
1807 50C Capped Bust, Large Stars, 50 Over 20, O-112, R.1, AU58 NGC. Complete serifs on the 1 in the date differentiate the more available O-112 from the scarce-to-rare O-111 Capped Bust variety, although both marriages share the same reverse die. This naturally toned O-112 is lustrous and sharp with reddish-gold highlights at the margins and interspersed areas of lilac and slate-gray toning over the minimally marked surfaces. The star centers and dentils are for the most part well-formed, with a scalloped outer point on star 13 typical of the John Reich design. Census: 23 in 58 (1 in 58★), 31 finer (6/17).
