Bust Half Dollars
1809 50C III Edge, O-109b, R.4, AU53 PCGS. Iridescent toning at the borders cedes to reddish-rose and silver-gray centers with blue overtones. Plentiful mint luster remains throughout both sides. The obverse stars retain their sharpness, while the late die state of the reverse displays a bold die crack through the center of AMERICA that extends to the arrowheads in a connect-the-dots fashion. This lovely early Capped Bust half has virtually no marks and only slight wear that accounts for the assigned grade, which seems conservative.
