Bust Half Dollars
1810 50C O-101a, R.1, AU58 PCGS. A colorful, near-Mint State half with vivid luster that glows beneath multihued shades of sea-green, blue, and copper-red toning. The eye appeal is exceptional. Multiple die cracks present a textbook example of the late die state for O-101, yet the coin is sharply struck with just a hint of rub visible on the eagle's brow and wing shoulders. A bold crack through the cap to star 8 confirms the late O-101a die stage. Additional die cracks and die lines surround star 1 and the date. The reverse is also heavily cracked, causing both dies to be promptly retired after striking the variety. Population (all 1810 varieties): 74 in 58 (1 in 58+), 65 finer (6/17).
