Bust Half Dollars
1812 50C Large 8, O-109a, R.2, AU58 PCGS. Several pellet-like die defects above the olive leaves confirm the O-109a late die state. Gunmetal-blue and pale russet toning on both sides display satiny mint luster beneath the rich patina. This example was struck before the dies were lapped to remove ridges and lumps that surround the left wing. A sizeable lump near star 10 and a mound in the shield are key pick-up points for the variety. A sharp example, scarce this nice.
