Bust Half Dollars
1813 50C O-102, R.4, AU58 PCGS. The scarce Overton-102 variety displays two important pick-up points to identify the die pair. Multiple sets of "ear bars" exist on all examples of the variety from die clashing of vertical shield stripes in the area of the ear. The I in UNITED is cocked counterclockwise so that the upper-right serif is higher than the adjacent T. This near-Mint example is lustrous and lightly toned in pale-gold and orange hues. It is struck from a late state of the dies, which show microscopic surface erosion and a radial die crack through star 2.
