Bust Half Dollars
1814 50C O-104a, R.2, MS62 PCGS. Lustrous bands of toning encircle the pale reddish-gold centers with rich shades of sea-green and aquamarine, possibly derived from long storage in a coin board or in a Wayte Raymond album. This example is sharply struck and minimally marked. We note only slight loss of detail on stars 5 to 7 and at the left (facing) wing feathers. Die cracks on both the obverse and reverse confirm the advanced O-104a die state, while the variety displays inordinately wide spacing between 50 and C.
