Bust Half Dollars
1819/8 50C Large 9, O-102, R.2, MS62 NGC. Attractive gold toning is deepest at the margins, with near-brilliant silver centers and sharply struck design elements. Overton-102 is known for its "Timber Ts" -- all of the Ts show the lower right upright notched and the right base partially shorn off, as if the letters are about to fall over. The Large 9 hides most of an underlying 8, with just glimpses of the underdigit below the lower loop of 9 and at the ball. Census (all 1819/8 varieties combined): 9 in 62 (1 in 62+), 27 finer (6/17).
