Bust Half Dollars
1824 50C Over Various Dates, O-103, R.1, AU50 PCGS. Always a collector favorite, the O-103 has defied numerous attempts by researchers and Bust half specialists to adequately explain the exact nature of the overdate. A July, 1966 article in The Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine suggested the date is really 1824/22/20, but that explanation has given way to a mere "jumble of recuttings." It is a popular Mint blunder in the series, and scarce by demand if not by absolute mintage. This pleasingly toned About Uncirculated example is sharp for the grade and retains much mint luster.
