1827 50C Square Base 2, O-117, R.3, AU58 PCGS. The date rides high beneath the portrait. The Square Base 2 has a large curl that narrows at the neck and is nearly disconnected from the thick, square base. Struck from an early state of the dies, this lustrous near-Mint example is razor-sharp with variegated tan-gold and aquamarine toning augmented by bright silver luster.
