1827 50C Square Base 2, O-135, R.3, MS62 NGC. The A in STATES is rotated clockwise, a key pick-up point for the O-135 die marriage -- one of 49 die pairs for the year's mintage of nearly 5.5 million pieces. This example is lustrous and frosted with clear, light-gold toning and nice eye appeal. Struck from a later state of the dies, with the stars large and mostly flat, drawn to the edge. The Parsley reference lists a Condition Census of 64, 63, 63, 63, 62.
