1839-O 50C GR-4, R.4 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. The die lump under the right (facing) wing and the recut mintmark identify the scarce GR-4 variety. This sharply detailed, lightly worn example is richly patinated in shades of olive-gold and magenta, with few noticeable abrasions. The flat, unnatural luster indicates an improper cleaning.
