1840-(O) 50C Medium Letters, WB-101, Die Pair 12, R.6, XF40 PCGS. Once thought to be a Philadelphia Mint issue, this rare variety was actually struck in New Orleans from a leftover die from 1839. Only light wear shows on the well-detailed design elements and the pleasing lavender-gray surfaces are lightly abraded. Population: 15 in 40, 44 finer (6/17).
