Early Dollars
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves, B-6, BB-25, R.3, VF20 PCGS. Bowers Die State III. The 1795 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves dollar with a pointed bust tip was struck using four obverse dies. This variety has the tip of the lowest hair curl pointing to the inner point of the star. Examples are usually found through VF condition and become rare in higher grades. As usual, the upper border is a touch soft, but Liberty's ear is plainly visible, a seldom-encountered trait. Deep gray peripheries meld with light gray centers. A small lamination occurs below S1 on the reverse. Housed in an old green label holder.
