Proof Seated Dollars
1873 $1 PR65 PCGS. OC-P1, R.3. The Seated dollar denomination closed with a mintage of 293,000 circulation strikes and 600 proofs. A single set of dies was used for the entire proof mintage, showing scattered rust lumps on Liberty's neck and doubling on the motto. Osburn and Cushing estimate that slightly more than half the original production survives. This Gem exhibits considerable brilliance with sharp details and mottled iridescence on each side. Population: 11 in 65, 5 finer (6/17).
