Trade Dollars
1877 T$1 MS62 Prooflike NGC. This turned out to be the final year of business-strike Trade dollar production at the Philadelphia Mint. Treasury Secretary Sherman would abolish the denomination early in 1878 before the facility could produce any additional coins for circulation. Pale almond-gold hues tint the brilliant surfaces of this unevenly struck Trade dollar. The obverse is softly defined throughout, while the reverse shows crisp detail on all elements, including the leg and talons. Overt Prooflike reflectivity furthers the appeal.
