1869 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-696, Pollock-775, R.5, PR64 NGC. Ex: Rothschild. A Liberty head faces right on the obverse, wearing a Phrygian cap with three large stars. The reverse, the only Standard Silver dime die of the year, reads STANDARD SILVER around the upper edge, with 10 CENTS inside a wreath of oak and laurel. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Struck also with a plain edge and in copper (both edge variants), and in aluminum. This is a bright example with numerous die striations on each side, and the edges show moderate rose-colored toning.
