Liberty Quarter Eagles
1845-O $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. Variety 1. The meager mintage of 4,000 coins explains why the 1845-O is the scarcest New Orleans quarter eagle, even scarcer than its C and D-mint quarter eagles of the same date. It is especially challenging in AU, with only 9-10 pieces estimated known. This piece shows a decent strike over rich orange-gold surfaces accented in rose with some luster remaining. Scattered contact is consistent with the grade. Population: 5 in 50, 14 finer (6/17).
