Liberty Quarter Eagles
1846-C $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS. Variety 1. The 1846-C quarter eagle comes from a mintage of only 4,808 pieces, and it is believed that fewer than 125 coins are extant in all grades. The majority are well-circulated, grading below the AU level. This piece is above-average for the issue. Struck from clashed dies with bright yellow-gold luster, the coin shows slight weakness on the eagle's legs but is sharp on the Liberty portrait. Heavy die rust appears near the date. Population: 6 in 53, 16 finer (6/17).
