1850-C $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. Per Gold Coins of the Charlotte Mint, 1838-1861: "This is a rare coin in the higher AU grades and very rare in Uncirculated, with an estimated four to six examples currently believed to exist." That from a small mintage of 9,148 coins. This piece has original green-gold color and minimal merging over surprisingly well-defined motifs. Minor abrasions and light clashing are typical. Census: 25 in 58, 21 finer (6/17).
