Territorial Gold
(1837-42) G$1 C. Bechtler Dollar, N Reversed, K-4, R.4, AU53 PCGS. The K-4 gold dollars were struck by Christopher Bechtler between 1837 and 1842, and the Bechtler gold coinage was widely accepted in the Southeastern United States as late as the Civil War. N in ONE is punched over a previously entered, reversed N. The A's on the reverse are actually inverted V's. This example is struck with a rotated reverse. This AU53 specimen is lightly worn and lightly abraded, with strongly impressed design elements. Population: 18 in 53, 48 finer (6/17).
