AUSTRIAN NETHERLANDS. 3 Florins, 1790. NGC MS-63.
KM-50; Dav-1285. Struck immediately after the insurrection against Habsburg rule, often referred to as the Brabant Revolution. The revolt was precipitated by changes made by Joseph II in the 1780s that were perceived as being anti-Catholic. The design selected for this coinage is remarkable in that the obverse bears uncanny resemblance to the Calvinist issues coming out of Zurich about the same time this piece was struck. That all aside, it is a beautiful design which is exquisitely executed on this large crown sized silver coin. Lovely light tone with multicolor highlights amongst the devices. An excellent example and sure to excite collectors. NGC MS-63.

Estimate: $1800.00- $2200.00
