MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1733-MoMF. Philip V (1700-46). NGC VF Details--Holed.
KM-94; Gil-M-4-4b (Plate coin); Yonaka-M4-33e; Cal-type 179#1045; Harris-137; Palmer & Almanzar-207; Grove-765. Cinquefoil instead of rosette below assayers' letter. RARE variety. Clear evidence of the cinquefoil punched over the rosette with remnants of the later just to the right of the former. Mr. Yonaka was able to locate only 4 examples of this variant between two different die pairs. Well struck with good definition of the details and attractive old cabinet tone displaying a lovely blue-grey in the open fields and on the tops of the devices which transitions to more of a golden hue on the lower half while the upper half has more of a slate with a blue sheen amongst the legend. Despite the noted defect quite an attractive example and sure to be a well received addition to the next collection it enters. NGC VF Details--Holed.

Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
