POLAND. Taler, 1580. Olkusz Mint. Stefan Bathory (1575-86). PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, VF Details Secure Holder.
Parchimowicz-Mule (Obv. 2582, Rev. 2583); cf.Kop-546; cf.H-Cz-636; cf.Gum-731; cf.Klimek-267.a; Kurpiewski-Mule (Obv. 212, Rev. 213). EXTREMELY RARE and Possibly Unique, the only example of this unusual muling of dies that we are aware of. The reverse legend reads "MAG+DVX+LIT+RVS+PRVSSIAE+MAS+&C" and clearly shows that the last portion of the legend of the reverse die had been reworked. One of the more interesting aspects of this piece is the abbreviation of Lithuania with the full spelling of Prussia. Cleaned long ago now with attractive slate grey tone hugging the devices and a medium grey in the fields. Well struck with all of the major design aspects present. Highly significant and sure to attract the connoisseur of Polish numismatics. PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, VF Details Secure Holder.

Estimate: $30000.00- $40000.00
