RUSSIA. Ruble, (1720)-OK. Peter I (the Great) (1689-1725). PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, AU Details.
Bit-368; Dia-45(obverse die only); Dav-1654; KM-157.4. VERY RARE variety with a different date on the edge as "1712" with "1" and "2" of the date in retrograde. The blundered edge date would suggest striking early in 1721 rather than 1720 according to the Cyrillic date. We were able to locate one other example struck with different obverse and reverse dies in a Baldwins auction from May 2010. No mark on shoulder, arabesque on chest, rivets on sleeves, medium head. Lightly cleaned long ago now with light attractive mottled tone. A seldom encountered error, and one sure to cause spirited bidding among the elite collectors. PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, AU Details.
