CANADA. Dominion of Canada. 5 Dollars, 1924 Series. DC-27. PMG About Uncirculated 50 EPQ.
A stunning note which is a piece likely missing from many collections. While the date shows 1924, it wasn't printed until 1931. Furthermore, the small quantity printed of 2,000,000 was not released until 1934 and roughly a third of that number actually entered circulation. Being released in 1934 made this a very short lived series as the 1935 Bank of Canada issues started to circulate with intentions of replacing the Dominion notes of old. Interestingly the engraved calendar date of May 26th coincides with Queen Mary's birthday. The note is one of the more pleasing we recall seeing with perfectly original paper and sensational centering of the design. Brilliant blue inks make up the underprints and defined black inks make up the primary design. It seems three very light folds is all that accounts for the Choice About New grade. Surely a piece that will be a focal point in any advanced collection of Canadian banknotes. PMG About Uncirculated 50 EPQ.
