CANADA-NEWFOUNDLAND. Government of Newfoundland. 1 Dollar, 1920. NF-12d. PCGS Very Good 10.
The Newfoundland Treasury Notes of 1920 were issued to deal with a shortage of silver coin (precipitated, as with Charlton notes, by the withdrawal of the cash notes) at a time when the price of silver was very high on world markets. By 1939, about 99% of the total amount of these notes printed had been redeemed and destroyed. Mentions of splits, tears, repairs, design and signatures redrawn, along with writing on back observed and mentioned in the comments section but are more than typical for the grade. This is still a fantastic example for the type, and especially so for the grade. PCGS Very Good 10.
Estimate: $600.00- $1000.00
