HUNNIC TRIBES, Hephthalites. Anonymous. Before AD 700. AR Drachm (35mm, 3.21 g, 5h). Imitating an issue of Salm ibn Ziyad, Umayyad governor of Khorasan with blundered mint and date. Crowned Sasanian-style bust right; no bismillah in Arabic in outer margin; triple pellets flanking lowest star-in-crescent; c/m: Sogdian legend and tamgha / Fire altar with ribbons and attendants; star and crescent flanking flames.
