GREAT BRITAIN. Set of Allied Leaders Gold Medals - Winston Churchill & Dwight D. Eisenhower, ND (1965-66).
Eimer-unlisted. By G. Colley. There are two medals for each leader: one 65 mm weighing 106.3 (Churchill) or 116.0 grams (Eisenhower), and the other 32 mm and weighing 17.7 and 17.8 grams. The Churchill medals show the British leader in an Army field jacket facing half left with his quote "WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER" around. The reverse shows Allied soldiers waiting to be evacuated on the shore, with the Legend "Dunkirk . 1940" below. The other medal shows General Eisenhower facing half right, the legend "DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER / SOLDIER STATESMAN" around. The reverse shows allied forces entrenching their forces on the beach head in Normandy while German aircraft fly above. Each medal is hallmarked 18 K and marked with the year of production (1965 for the Churchill medal and 1966 for the Eisenhower) and is serial numbered on the edge. Housed in a dark blue hinged Slade, Hampton & Son Limited presentation case. PROOFLIKE MINT STATE.
